Our recommended products are Bepanthen, A&D Ointment, cling film, paper towels, micro-porous tape and liquid anti-bacterial soap.
–
With 5-6 hours of the tattoo being finished, wash your hands with liquid, parfum-free, anti-bacterial soap. Then, remove the clingfilm and dispose of it.
Use your hands only to apply the same soap to your tattoo and wash it under running, lukewarm water to ensure all blood, plasma and ink is washed away.
Repeat this step every 5-6 hours – even after showering in the morning.
–
Tap it dry with a paper towel – do not use a normal towel as this can leave fibres. They also harvest bacteria!
Once the area is dry, apply a very thin layer of barrier cream (like Bepanthen). Use enough to make your skin shiny and ensure the tattooed area is all covered in a nice uniform layer of cream.
Then rewrap the tattoo with new clingfilm.
–
Please ensure that the cling film is applied comfortably – if it is too tight, the pressure will be uncomfortable.
When you are wrapping the tattoo for bed, ensure a bigger area is covered and secure the clingfilm with micro-porous tape. During the night, the cling film may move and the tattooed area may become unprotected.
You do not need to care for your tattoo during the night if you are following this process.
–
After five days, follow the same process above but use moisturising cream such as A&D Ointment instead of Bepanthen.
Do this at least three times per day to avoid the skin getting dry and nasty scabs forming over your tattoo. Your tattoo will heal within 4-6 weeks.
–
We recommending avoiding Sudocream, stagnant water (swimming pools, baths, sea, jacuzzi etc.), UV rays (tanning salon or excessive sun exposure), make-up (fake tan or make up in general) and anything that may rub against or apply pressure to your tattooed area.
